Sahalie Falls

After lunch in Bend, we headed home. One the way home we took a short jant to a the beautiful Sahalie Falls. The water is so blue.
Aaron's parents met us in Bend and showed us this beautiful gem.

We hiked down a great trail along the falls. It was very chilly.

The kids wanted to feel how cold the water was. Jaime and Adam were more than willing to help. The kids verified that it was freezing.

Can you see the blue in the water? Just Beautiful!

More blue.

The boys putting their flip flops back on after testing the water.

Checking out the water.

A very big log the kids found to walk on.

We ventured up. Adam, Jaime and Hunter went out to the rocks were the Falls start. I couldn't look to long.

Hunter's behind the tree in the navy shirt. See how close he is?
It was a really great spot to stop. I had almost said we weren't going to go. I was tired and ready to be home. I'm so glad I went.

Camping at Tumalo

Thursday of Labor Day weekend, the kids and I headed to Bend with Adam and Jaime to camp for a night. Aaron had to work because school was starting the following week. We set up camp then headed over to the swimmin' hole.

The sun had already gone behind the trees so the water wasn't as refreshing had the sun been shining down on them.

Adam was the first brave one to get all of the way in the water.

Staying on the sidelines.

Graham starting to stick his toes in.

Adam and Gavin bravin' the chilly waters.

Venturing further.

Gavin going once again.

Sitting by the campfire, eating some dinner.

After dinner of course we had to roast marshmallows.

Harrison was just starting to fall asleep. As soon as the camera came out he was wide awake.

Good morning Sunshine!

Trying to warm up by the fire.

Waiting for breakfast to be served.

Graham trying to help with breakfast. Yes that is a hatchet sitting right where he could grab it.

One of the worst designed slides I have ever seen.

It was way to narrow.

Graham not wanting to go down the slide.

But loving it at the end.

The swings the kids could have stayed on forever.

Gavin after he jumped off the swing and the planted his face in the dirt.

A chipmunk the kids were so excite to see, and followed until it hid.

After playing at the park we headed to the swimmin' hole once again. Thankfully the sun was out and the water felt a little better. It was still freezing though.

Adam and Gavin going in again. They are the two splashes in the water.
After swimming we headed for some lunch. Then it was out of town. On the way home we stopped at a beautiful water fall. More pictures on that later. We had such a great time with Adam and Jaime. We wish they lived closer.

First Day of School

Gavin and Gretchen headed to school yesterday morning.

Gavin was very suprising to me. He got out of bed before I even went in there. He was dressed and ready for breakfast when he came into the kitchen. While I was upstairs doing something, Gavin made his lunch. He was so worried about being late. School starts at 8:10. He was worried at 7:20. I reassured him that we would have plenty of time. Hunter doesn't start school until 9am. I don't have to load up all the kids. Harrison and Graham stay home with Hunter.

Gretchen wasn't so excited for school. She did get all of her things done and was ready to go when it was time. Gretchen has a teacher that we don't know. She came from a different school. Gretchen said she is very strict and they only got one recess. Welcome to 4th grade!

Hunter was off to middle school. He was very excited for something new. His day was great and one of his friends locker is right next to his. Hunter has to help him open his locker. Those combinations are tricky. Only things that wasn't so good, he lost his calculator. Luckily it wasn't a super expense one. But couldn't he have lost some pens or pencils.
I think everyone is glad to have the first day behind them. They were all ready for today. Gretchen, Gavin and I rode bike to school. It is so much easier to ride without two extras to ride with.

Hood to Coast

Last weekend I was able to participate in the Hood to Coast Relay. What an experience it was. These are the beautiful ladies, half the team, that I was so fortunate to ride with in Van 1. We really had a great time together. The start of Hood to Coast at Timberline Lodge.

The finish at Seaside OR.
I know I'm missing some in between shots. And a picture of the whole team. Those will come later. I'm still trying to get them all together.
I was asked to do Hood to Coast about 2 1/2 weeks before. I've always thought it would be fun to run in it. So of course I said yes. We started on Friday morning and ended on Saturday afternoon. We ran a total of 197 miles as a team. If you would have asked me on Saturday, if I would to it again, the answer would have been absolute not. Almost a week later, I wouldn't mind doing it again...with alittle more training time the two weeks. The other teams that ran were pretty fun and had decorated there vans so cool. It was a really great time and I had such great ladies to be with.

Harrison got the go to not wear his splint any more two weeks ago. I am a little leery. Dr. Bynum so to let him loose. Does he know what that means? Harrison is so excited to be free of the splint.
