Bruised

Hazel, Graham and I spent a wonderful day at home. No where we had to go. Nothing had to get done. It was glorious!

Graham found his new favorite song, Boulevard  of Broken Dreams by the Vitamin String Quartet. We were listening to Pandora this morning to the film score channel. Graham heard this song and really wanted to know who it was. We love Pandora.

Notice the bruise under his eye. He and Gavin were wrestling, unheard of I know in a house full of boys. Graham's cheek came down on a hard ball. Yes, the boys were told to stop just before this happened.

You can barely see Hazel's bruise on her cheek. She was trying to pull up on a dining room chair and her pants slid. Her cheek met the dining room chair. So sad, but no the last of the bruises for her, especially her. She tries to pull up on everything.

Another wound Graham got by the hand of Gavin. This one was totally and accident. Graham ran out to the garage to greet Aaron home from work. Aaron had picked up the older kids from violin lessons. Gavin was getting out of the car and Graham running towards the door. Graham's head met the door. Poor little one are getting beat up this week and it's only Wednesday. 

Pull Ups

 This little lady is not letting the chicken pox slow her down. A couple of times this weekend she was standing in her crib after her nap. Hazel was a little freaked out the first time she pulled up on something because she wasn't quite sure how to get down.

Since then she has figured out how to get back down.

I guess Hazel doesn't understand slow down. I'm not ready for all of these milestones. 

Daddy's Girl

 Ever since winter break, Hazel has become a daddy's girl. It is pretty cute to see her face just light up when Aaron comes into view.

Last night was much better and today, our little lady was back, pretty much.

On top of the chicken pox, Hazel got a runny nose and has those three teeth on the top still being stubborn and not breaking through. I'm excited she is feeling happier!

Doernbecher Appointment, Shingles and Chicken Pox

Last Thursday Hunter had his monthly visit to Doernbecher. We told the nurse as soon as we were there that Hunter had gotten a rash a couple of days earlier. She told Dr. Thomas and he was in the room before the blood work results were back.

Upon on examination, Dr. Thomas said it was Shingles. Oh joy! 

Hunter still got his chemo and back poke. But was not able to do his month steroids or daily chemo at home. To say Hunter was dissappointed would be an understatement. He is on Acyclovir. It is an anti viral med for chicken pox and shingles. Thankfully Hunter wasn't having any other symptoms with the shingles except extreme itching. It he had a fever or wasn't feeling well, into the hospital he would go. Shingles aren't contagious unless you touch the rash.
It's been almost a week and he is feeling pretty good.

Here's a funny picture of him a couple of weeks ago. He had chapped lips and Gretchen had some  York Peppermint Patty chapstick. He put it all over his mouth jokingly. What a nut!

On to the chicken pox, Monday I noticed a red spot on Hazel's head. I thought she had just scratched herself. She does that quite often. Yesterday when she woke up in the morning I noticed more red bumps and the one from Monday was blistered. She also had some on her back and diaper area. Poor little lady got the chicken pox. We are assuming from Hunter. I guess Hunter or I didn't wash our hands enough. She felt kind of warm Monday night. She is getting 3 teeth on the top so I figured it was from those. 

She has been her usual happy self. Although this morning she was a bit clingy, but still happy. Still no fever, just more spots. Let's hope this doesn't continue through the rest of the kids. They have all been vaccinated. So was Hunter but he still got the chicken pox. We'll see what the next 3 weeks have in store for us. That is how long it can take for chicken pox to show up.

Gavin's 9!

 Gavin's birthday is New Year's Eve. Once again he wanted the Stenson's to come over and help celebrate. (Some of the pictures are blurry. My phone camera and shaky hand, not a good combo.)

Hunter couldn't wait to help light the candles.

The night was spent playing 'Headbands', the Wii, Legos, eating lots of delicious food.
We love spending time with the Stensons. The baby girls went to bed around their normal times and slept through all of the craziness. It was not a quite night for sure.

Love this kid. Gavin has such a great sense of humor. And most of the time is kind to his siblings. He has really matured this year and is more diligent about getting his chores done. When he sees his siblings needing some help he is more that willing to step in.

Christmas morning didn't come to early for us. 6:40 a.m.

Graham was thrilled. Anything Star Wars is a winner with our boys.

Who knew Harrison would be so excited for a movie. He acted this way about all his gifts. What a great attitude.

Gretchen got the game Headbands. It is so much fun. The kids played it several time Christmas day.

Our kids draw each others names. It make life a bit easier. Harrison knew exactly what he wanted to get Graham, a Batman Helicopter. Graham was thrilled.

Hazel woke up in the middle of all the present opening. She didn't want to miss out on to much.

This year I opted to make only pants. I was going through the kids' clothes in early November and noticed that their jammie shirts all looked pretty new. The pants that went with them, not so much. So I thought I'd get a shirt to go with some jammie pants. The kids were thrilled. They all said they get to hot with the jammie shirts on. the t-shirts were a hit.

We weren't home for much of Christmas. We had church at 12 p.m. Then it was over to the Cole's for Christmas lunch and fun. Then on to my mom's for dinner.
The next day we treated as our stay in your jammies and play with all of our fun stuff day!
